DST-SERB sponsored online workshop on "Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis" (22 - 26 November, 2021) will be organized by Department of Physics, NITJ. This workshop is being organized under the head of Scientific Social Responsibility for research project entitled “Fluctuations and Correlations-A Hunt to QCD Critical End Point” (under CRG Scheme). The eminent experts are from leading teaching and research institutes of the country like IIT Indore, TIFR Mumbai, IOP Bhubaneshwar and Panjab University Chandigarh.
The objective of the workshop is to give detailed introduction to statistical techniques applied in the field of sciences, social sciences & engineering for the purpose of data analysis. Familiarity with the statistical techniques is of utmost importance to the faculties and PhD students as these methods are normally used explicitly or implicitly in teaching and research. The contents which will be covered in the workshop starts from basic concepts of probability and distribution functions. The topics such as error analysis, hypothesis testing, parameter estimation and Monte Carlo method will be covered during the workshop.
