We invite 4th through 8th graders to participate in this exciting coding contest on March 28th! Students must be from St. Brendan, St. Pius X, or St. Thomas More. Priority registration will go to robotics club students from those schools and to those who register ahead of time at the above URL.
The coding platform will be VEXCode VR. To get started, watch this video for a quick 1-minute tutorial on navigating VEXCode VR.
We can share the following rules and tips:
You have 20 minutes to code.
There will be multiple coding slots throughout the tournament. If you are late for your slot, you will lose your spot.
The complete rules will be provided at the beginning of your slot. The referee will give 5 minutes to read all the rules and may show a demonstration.
Read the complete rules carefully. The referees cannot answer questions or give hints!
This is a solo competition. All work must be yours.
You must remain in the coding area. No breaks once you start coding!
You will have one chance to demonstrate your code, so you are advised to test for reliability before submitting your work.
Using fewer coding blocks will help you score more points.
To best prepare, students should practice on all 15 free VEXCode VR playgrounds except for Art Canvas, Dynamic Castle Crasher, and Dynamic Wall Maze.
Students may only use the provided Surfaces to code in this contest. Students may bring in their own wired mouse.
The VEX GO team this spring will be working on 4 coding challenges for competition bonus points. You can find those under the VEX GO menu below. Score as many points as you can by May 31st! You may submit your code to Robotics@school.saintbrendan.org.
