Information Collection and Use

You don't need to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, or phone number to use StayPut.

Everything you create or set up inside the app is stored only in local storage on your device. This includes:

• your focus, short break, and long break durations, and the number of sessions in a cycle;

• the subjects, labels, or task names you type for a session;

• your virtual forest, including the trees you have grown or that withered, the tree species you have unlocked, and any rewards you have earned;

• your completed focus and study history, streaks, and statistics;

• your selected theme, alarm sound, ticking sound, and volume settings;

• your auto-start and notification preferences.

We do not upload, transmit, or store any of this on our servers. We have no account system and no cloud backup. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share or export it yourself. It is permanently lost if you uninstall the app or clear its data.

The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Links to the privacy policies of the third-party service providers used by the app:

How StayPut Knows Whether You Stayed

StayPut's core feature is that your tree only grows if you stay in the app during a focus session. To check this, StayPut looks only at whether StayPut itself is still open on your screen. It does this using standard Android app lifecycle events and does not need any special permission.

StayPut does not detect, record, or transmit which other app you switch to. It does not read the contents of your screen or your other apps, and it does not track what you do outside StayPut. This check runs entirely on your device. Its only result is saved in your local history: whether the session was completed and the tree grew, or abandoned and the tree withered.

Permissions Used by StayPut

StayPut asks you for only one permission: notifications.

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
On Android 13 and later, StayPut asks for your permission before sending notifications. Notifications are used to alert you when a focus session or a break ends, and to remind you to return to the app if you leave while your tree is growing. If you deny this permission, the app still works, but you will not receive these alerts. You can turn notifications on or off at any time in your device settings under Apps > StayPut > Notifications.

StayPut does not request access to your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone, location, or any other personal content on your device.

The advertising, analytics, and payment services built into the app rely on a few standard Android permissions that Android grants automatically at installation, without showing you a prompt. These include internet and network state access, used to load ads, verify purchases, and send crash and analytics data; Advertising ID access, used for advertising as described below; and Google Play billing access, used to process purchases. None of these give the app access to your personal content, and your forest, subjects, labels, and focus history are never transmitted.

Advertising

The free version of StayPut displays advertisements. These include banner ads, interstitial ads shown between sessions, and rewarded video ads. You may choose to watch rewarded ads to unlock additional tree species, themes, and sounds.

Ads are never shown on top of a running focus session or in the middle of a focus block, so an ad will never cause your tree to wither.

Our advertising partners may collect and use the following to serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising:

• your Advertising ID (a resettable identifier provided by Google Play Services);

• approximate location derived from your IP address;

• device type and operating system version;

• information about your interaction with ads.

You can control this at any time:

• To reset or delete your Advertising ID, go to Settings > Google > Ads on your Android device.

• To opt out of personalized advertising, enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in the same menu.

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before serving personalized ads. You may change your choice at any time from within the app.

In-App Purchases

StayPut offers optional in-app purchases. These remove advertisements and unlock premium content such as all tree species, themes, sounds, and extended statistics.

All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We never receive, collect, or store your credit card number, bank details, or billing address. We receive only a purchase token and transaction status from Google, which we use to verify and restore your purchase. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how Google handles payment data.

Log Data

If an error occurs in the app, we collect data and information on your phone through third-party products. This is called Log Data. Log Data may include your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the app's configuration at the time, the time and date of your use of the app, and other statistics.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes. We collect aggregated, non-identifying information such as:

• which features are opened;

• how many focus sessions are started, completed, or abandoned;

• session length;

• app version and device model;

• crash stack traces.

We do not send the subjects, labels, or task names you type, and we do not build a profile of what you study or work on. We use this information solely to fix problems and improve the app.

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. Websites you visit send them to your browser, and they are stored on your device's internal memory.

StayPut does not use cookies explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You can accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you refuse cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of the app.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals for the following reasons:

• to facilitate our Service;

• to provide the Service on our behalf;

• to perform Service-related services; or

• to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

These third parties have access to your Personal Information so they can perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. They are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

Data Retention

Your forest, timer settings, and focus history remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Google retains crash reports and analytics data for the periods set out in the Firebase and AdMob policies linked above.

International Data Transfers

We are based in Vietnam. The third-party providers listed above process data on servers located in the United States and other countries. When personal information is transferred outside your country of residence, it is protected by the safeguards those providers use, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

Data Deletion Rights & Instructions

Most of your usage data, such as your forest, settings, focus history, and local logs, is stored locally on your device.

Local Data Deletion: You can delete all locally stored data at any time in three ways:

• use "Reset all data" in the app's settings (this also removes your forest and cannot be undone);

• clear the app's cache and data in your device settings;

• uninstall StayPut.

Data Deletion Requests: You may want to delete data collected by integrated third-party services, such as analytics or ad networks, or you may have concerns about it. In either case, email us at admin@hpgmobile.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information;

• object to processing;

• withdraw consent for personalized advertising.

Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR. Residents of California have comparable rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Security

We value your trust in providing us with your Personal Information, and we use commercially acceptable means to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to Other Sites

StayPut may contain links to other sites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by us, so we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

StayPut is not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary actions.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Please review this page periodically for changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above.
