StayCool is a solar-powered evaporative cooling system designed to keep your car interior significantly cooler while parked — no engine power, no hassle. Using the natural power of evaporation combined with energy from the sun, StayCool actively circulates cool air through your vehicle, reducing interior temperatures and protecting your seats, electronics, and personal comfort.
Built for efficiency and sustainability, StayCool operates completely off-grid with a compact solar panel that powers a custom-built fan and water-based cooling system. It’s easy to install, energy-efficient, and ideal for anyone who regularly parks in the sun — from commuters and road trippers to families and Rideshare drivers.
Whether you're trying to protect your car from heat damage, improve comfort for passengers and pets, or reduce your reliance on traditional AC systems, StayCool offers a smart, eco-conscious alternative to sitting in a sweltering vehicle.
Cooler cars. Cleaner energy. Smarter design. StayCool makes it possible.
Greenhouse effect in transportation:
Generally, people would like sunny weather. The bright outdoor atmosphere generates positivity, delivers comfort for ones that favors warmth, and provide vitamin D, important for bone growth. These are one of the many reason why individual move to sunny states in America, like California, Texas, Florida, etc. However, one of these major downsides of a sunny weather is their effect on your vehicle when left outside. The sunlight enters through the windows as short-wave radiation and converting to long infrared heat. The heat energy is trapped inside the vehicle and only a certain portion gets outs. The heat build up makes a greenhouse effect.
Discomfort & Inconvenience
When entering a personal vehicle left under the sun, often times, a heat wave blasts into on body and enter the vehicle is extreme difficult because every object inside are heated. Both causes extreme discomfort and inconvenience. When sunlight hits the vehicle, the heat builds rather quickly because of the greenhouse effect. After an hour, the in-car temperature is typically 43 degrees higher than the outdoor temperature. And because the vehicle is made of steel and aluminum, it practically acting as an oven storing a large amount of heat. The seat leather, car electronic screens, and another out metal part inside the vehicle's interior is heated and may be burn a person if the heat build up is extreme.
Safety
The buildup of heat is not just a comfort problem—it also endangers human and animal lives. Within just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a car can rise to unsafe levels, posing severe risks such as heat stroke for humans and animals. A child or pet inside the vehicle, whether left intentionally or accidentally, is at risk due to this issue. In 2023 alone, 163 pets died due to heat-related incidents in vehicles, with an additional 855 barely rescued in America, according to PETA. Furthermore, approximately 37 children in America under the age of 15 died in overheated vehicles, either due to being left behind or becoming trapped. This amounts to about two deaths per week in the summer. This issue is especially severe in regions with consistently high temperatures, where the risks of heat-related incidents are amplified.
About The StayCool Device:
StayCool is an portable, solar-powered, automatic evaporative cooler.
15 inches tall and 12 inches wide to perfectly fit in a vehicle’s seat.
StayCool tracks the temperature and humanity in the vehicle which determines when it activate the fan and misting system. Through an app, the user is able to connect to the StayCool device and moderate these factors in a vehicle. Additionally, they are able to see how much water and energy is left in the device, activate the device aligning with their convenience, see any malfunction in the device, etc. As an emergency response, it would automatically shut off the device when detection a shortage of water to prevent the pump from overheating. StayCool is powered solar energy through the solar panel that can conventionally placed in vehicle’s dashboard pad. StayCool purpose is to provide a refreshing and comfortable atmosphere, protect objects, humans, and animals and, to an extent, reduce car idling and gas emissions.
Parts of StayCool
Fan
In all evaporative coolers, the fan is one of, if not, the most important component in a evaporative cooler. The fan function in the evaporative cooler is to pull the hot air from its surrounding and through the wicking fabric. Then it pushes out the cool air inside the device and out to the surroundings. It is the core function of cooling inside the vehicle and provide comfort and connivence to the users.
This particular fan is for Moisture-Proof Cooling. It can handles 12 Volts and is 0.6 Amps or 7 watts in total. It is connected on the lid of the bucket and on the top of the device because it is not meant to provide cooling for one direction or an specific individual. It shoot the top to cool the entire vehicle interior.
Because of the law of convection, the hot air will rise up and into the holes of the device while the cold air drops down. This is where the the direction of the fan matters, as it blows cold air up, it will drop down and spread onto the car rather then a direction. This process make a constant cycle of hot air goes through the wicking fabric cooling it --> the fan blows cooler air up and around the vehicle --> the sun will heat up the vehicle --> repeat. This cycle will make the vehicle cooler in general and will prevent heat build up.

Microcontroller & Temperature and Humidity Sensor
One of the noticeable and unique features about the StayCool cooler is it Microcontroller & temperature and humidity sensor. The object with the white rectangle in the center is the temperature and humidity sensor and as the name suggest, this device track the temperature and humidity in its surrounding environment. While the other device is the Microcontroller, it transmits data and information from the temperature and humidity sensor to the internet and eventually displays it into the StayCool app.
These two are the core features of StayCool and it's one of the feature that makes this device different and unique from other evaporative coolers. These are primary used to give the user information about the current car interior's environment display the said temperature and humidity on their app. Additionally, it coordinates with the Relay. The theoretical result is that the Relay will turn the evaporative cooler off after reaching the designed temperature the user sets on the app. Also, it would turn off the device if the surrounding interiors exceeds a certain humidity to prevent mold to build up in the car's interior. Lastly, will would want the Relay to turn on the device in other situations. It would turn on when the temperature sensor detect a certain high temperature in the vehicle that the user would also set up beforehand on their app. These features purpose is so the user to get a comfortable and satisfying experience when enter their vehicle and the microcontroller & temperature and humidity sensor allows this to happen.
