In July 16, 2014 eight (8) barangays in Tanauan City created through a Decree of Canonical Erection given by the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lipa, Most Reverend Ramon C. Arguelles , D.D. as the Parish of St. Augustine of Hippo. The titular patron St. Augustine of Hippo was given because of his great contribution in understanding the truths about the doctrine of the church and in honor of the first missionaries who sow the seed of faith to the entire archdiocese, the Ausgustinian Friars.
Eight (8) barangays compromise the parish as follows: Brgy. Santor, Brgy. Janopol Oriental, Brgy. Janopol Occidental, Brgy. Gonzales, Brgy. Talaga, Brgy. Banadero, Brgy. Ambulong and Brgy. Maugat. They are at the western part of the town along Tanauan-Talisay Road. An estimated 25,000 people resides in this areawith a great number of the Christians belong to Roman Catholic Church and minority belongs to non-Christian denominations .
