Department of Statistics

Statistics is the King of Mathematics and Computer science. The subject is offered in combination with Computer Science and Mathematics. The basic aim of introducing the course was to enable students to take up careers in governmental services and private companies. With Statistics being one of the subject in civil service examination of the UPSC and APPSC, the department has gained immense popularity among the student community.

The Department has well qualified, committed and dedicated faculty who participate in various national and international seminars. The Department involves the students in various activities like debate, discussions, quiz etc. It offers special coaching to the students who appeal in various competitive examinations. Special attention is paid for the week students.

Faculty Profile:

The department was established in 1968. It is headed by well qualified ,adequate and competent teachers. The department maintains and issues relevant books from the library to poor and needy students.

Apart from traditional class room teaching method,the students are encouraged to utilize ICT in academic transactions through the use of internet,LCD etc. for effective teaching and learning.

The faculty takes care of the students by arranging remedial classes to slow learners, and Telugu medium background students for their academic excellence. Personal counseling is provided to the needy students. Slip tests,Internals examinations are conducted not only to assess the knowledge of the students but also to prepare them for final examinations. Classroom seminars are organized in the classroom on important topics.Guest lecturers are arranged by eminent personalities to update knowledge in the subject.

The Department molds the students of Statistics as a good citizen of the country and enables them to guide their fellow citizen to build a healthy nation.
