Star Trek: Borderlands (ST:B) began its life as the UFPI (United Federation of Planets International) in 1993. In 2003, the name changed, but the heart of the community remained. Many of the original groups are still here today, and over the years we’ve added new ones, all connected within one backdrop: the Delta Quadrant in the early 2400s.
Some of our members have been with us since the very beginning; others found us along the way and helped shape what we are now — a connected community of writers and fans who create Star Trek stories together. We are governed by a council of player-members to ensure fairness, collaboration, and respect for every voice.
So, what exactly is a PBEM club?
A PBEM (Play By Email) club is more than just a game — it’s a network of games set in the same universe. Each duty station (ship or station) has its own crew and storyline, guided by a Game Master team. But together, these duty stations form a living, shared Star Trek universe where storylines cross over, characters meet, and missions ripple across the galaxy.
In a PBEM, you don’t roll dice or wait for quick chat replies. Instead, every action, every piece of dialogue, and every twist happens through carefully written posts. You control your character, shaping their destiny and adding your voice to an evolving story that feels like a brand-new episode each time.
For Trekkers, it’s the closest thing to joining a crew. You don’t just watch the mission — you help write it. Diplomacy, battles, exploration, personal drama — all the elements of Trek are here, created one post at a time.
Star Trek: Borderlands has been thriving for over 30 years because of its players — past, present, and future. We welcome new members with open arms and encourage them to grow into storytellers and leaders within the Borderlands universe.
So… are you ready to set course and add your voice to the adventure?
