The Lédger® Nano X Wallet is a compact hardware wallet designed to keep private keys protected within a dedicated Secure Element while allowing users to manage supported digital assets through Ledger's companion software. Ledger describes the Nano X as its classic Bluetooth-enabled signer, designed for use with smartphones and desktop computers.
Unlike a conventional software wallet, the Nano X is a physical device that requires transaction approval on the device itself. This creates an additional security layer because important transaction actions are confirmed using the hardware rather than relying solely on an internet-connected computer or phone. Ledger states that the Nano X uses a Secure Element chip, Ledger OS, and a Trusted Display.
One of the main advantages of the Nano X is its connectivity. The current model supports Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 for compatible iOS and Android smartphones and uses USB Type-C for desktop and Android connections. This makes the device suitable for people who want to manage their crypto while traveling or away from a primary computer.
The device has a compact monochrome OLED display with a 128 × 64-pixel resolution. Its listed dimensions are approximately 72 × 18.6 × 11.7 mm, and it weighs about 34 grams. The exterior combines brushed stainless steel and plastic.
Ledger currently states that the Nano X can be used with thousands of coins, tokens, and NFTs through Ledger Wallet and compatible third-party wallets. The exact assets and services available can vary, so users should check Ledger's current supported-asset information before transferring a particular cryptocurrency.
Ledger's software has evolved from the former Ledger Live branding to Ledger Wallet. The application provides an interface for managing supported accounts and digital assets while the Nano X remains responsible for securely signing transactions. Ledger says users can manage supported cryptocurrencies and access services such as buying, swapping, and staking through its software and partners.
For a new device, users should follow the official setup instructions and carefully read the information displayed on the hardware itself. Always verify transaction addresses and amounts on the device before approving a transaction.
During wallet initialization, users may receive a Secret Recovery Phrase. This phrase is extremely sensitive because anyone who obtains it may be able to restore access to the associated crypto accounts. Store it securely offline and never enter it into websites, forms, emails, chat messages, or unofficial recovery tools.
A legitimate Ledger representative should not ask you to reveal your complete recovery phrase. Be especially cautious of websites or messages claiming that a phrase is required to activate, synchronize, update, unlock, or recover a wallet.
The Lédger® Nano X combines offline private-key protection with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, making it a practical option for users who want hardware-based crypto self-custody across mobile and desktop devices. Its Secure Element, Ledger OS, and on-device transaction confirmation provide important security features.
