The SEAniors’ Alliance project empowers people over 65 by boosting their digital and environmental skills, fostering sustainable living, and promoting intergenerational collaboration. Through training, an interactive online game, and inclusive education, seniors become “SEAnior Ambassadors” who lead community activities, combat ageism, and inspire lifelong learning, while younger volunteers gain valuable experience in adult education.

Older generations in Europe often face mistrust toward new technologies and scientific findings, leading to skepticism about climate change and environmental issues, a situation reinforced by disinformation. While climate change and environmental degradation disproportionately affect seniors’ health, many still view climate action as the responsibility of younger generations and remain absent from education programmes. Yet, involving older adults in environmental initiatives not only reduces their ecological footprint but also benefits their physical and mental health, fosters social connections, and strengthens self-esteem.
With Europe’s aging population and the EU’s commitment to a greener future, upgrading the knowledge of both seniors and adult educators is essential to promoting sustainability and intergenerational climate action.
Project Activities
The SEAniors’ Alliance project unfolds through a series of key activities in 2025, starting with the design and setup of interactive, game-based educational materials, followed by communication actions throughout the year.
From April to June, seniors will take part in digital and environmental education with an intergenerational focus, while selected participants will be trained as “SEAnior Ambassadors” to lead their own initiatives.
A climate change case study will run in autumn, alongside community activities organized by the Ambassadors. Internal coordination meetings and progress reports will ensure smooth implementation and effective collaboration across all partner countries.
