Hi! I'm Sarah. I am an educator, park ranger, guide, and artist "on the side". I currently live, work, and play in and among the magnificent mountains of California. My art is largely inspired by the mountains and natural landscapes that I am surrounded by, as well as the mystical wonder of the natural world. Art is a way for me to process and express the magic that words aren't quite enough to capture. You can find me with my watercolors on multi-day rock climbing ascents, backpacking trips, and ski adventures around the Sierra Nevada Mountains and beyond. When cozied up on the couch with a hot cup of tea, I love crafting jewelry, textile projects, and cooking.

The name "Stars & Soil" was born from thinking about all that it means to occupy this space between the stars and the soil. This seemingly infinite space, just a minuscule portion of the earth and the greater universe, holds in it so much magic, joy, beauty, wonder, and challenge that I can't help but create art about it.

I teach environmental science and care deeply for the world and it's inhabitants, so I am committed to upcycling whenever possible. Many of my products are made or packaged with upcycled, thrifted, or foraged materials.

Thank you so much for checking out my work!
