What is STAR Learning Centre’s teaching approach?
STAR Learning Centre focuses on strong fundamentals, clear explanations, and consistent practice. Lessons are structured but flexible, allowing teachers to adjust pacing based on student needs. We emphasise understanding, not rote memorisation.
What age groups or levels do you cater to?
We primarily cater to students from primary to secondary levels. We also offer adult classes, however, this is a more curated programme. Contact us for more information.
How big are classes?
We intentionally maintain small class settings to ensure personalised attention. Class size is managed carefully to support effective learning and meaningful teacher-student interaction.
How are students placed into classes?
Placement is based on various factors including student’s current grade and syllabus, their learning needs and pace, and teacher availability. Where necessary, a short assessment or consultation may be conducted to ensure we place your child in the appropriate class.
How do we register our child?
Registration can be completed by contacting the centre directly (Mrs. Gill: +6012 223 6052) or by completing the registration form. Class placement will be confirmed upon successful registration and payment.
Are trial classes available?
Yes, we currently offer free trial classes to ensure students are a good fit for the centre and that they are comfortable working with our teachers.
What is the class attendance policy?
Regular attendance is important for learning continuity. Parents are encouraged to inform the centre in advance if a student is unable to attend a class.
Are replacement classes provided for missed lessons?
Replacement classes are only offered for students taking 1:1 classes. Replacement classes will also be provided in the event a teacher is unable to attend (for both group and 1:1 classes). Please note replacement classes are not provided if it coincides with a public holiday.
What happens if a student arrives late?
Late arrivals may join group classes in progress, but lesson time will not be extended. For 1:1 classes, we will attempt to extend lesson time based on teacher availability, or where applicable, time not covered will be added to subsequent classes.
How are fees structured?
Fees are structured based on various factors including number of subject(s) enrolled in, class frequency, and grade.
We also charge a one-off registration fee for new students and a one-off book fee based on the number of subjects enrolled in.
We offer fee discounts for student referrals and for sibling registrations. Contact us for more details.
When are fees due?
Fees are payable in advance of classes and following the billing cycle communicated by the centre.
We offer monthly or weekly payment frequencies.
What happens if payment is late?
The centre manager will issue payment reminders close to billing cycle dates. Additional reminders will be issued up to 7 days post the billing cycle. Late payment without valid reason may result in e.g., late fees being applied, temporary suspension of classes or permanent expulsion from the centre, and loss of any package or discounted rates
We encourage you to proactively contact us if you are experiencing any payment difficulties to avoid the imposition of late fees/ penalties.
How are teachers selected?
Teachers are selected based on various factors including subject knowledge and qualifications, teaching experience and ability to engage and support students' learning journeys.
How can parents track student progress?
Teachers will provide periodic report cards (every 3-4 months) while we also offer parents the opportunity for detailed face-to-face discussions with teachers.
Bi-annual centre administered exams will be conducted to provide a quantitative marker of students' academic progress and performance.
