Based in Western Sydney, Australia, Eóghann Moon (vocals, guitar) formed starlapse with Jaime Llewellyn-Roux (guitar) who he met in high school, as well as Christopher Pernia (bass) and Aleks Jankov (drums) who were met while studying music.
With a shared love of music that feels what it feels without pretence, and conscientious songs that can stand on songwriting alone, the quartet plays high energy "constellation rock" tunes written by Eóghann Moon. Drawing that energy from incessant musical motion and intense performance, rather than walls of sound, starlapse sounds compelling and alive in any room.
starlapse is more inspired by various artists that do a lot with a little, instead of any particular style. Drawing especially from artists like Duster and their highly intentional DIY aesthetic, The Strokes' early work with their colourfully restrained tone-palette, and Elliott Smith's hungover sobriety. The results are impressionistic indie rock songs, with the impatience of post punk, and a singer-songwriter's melodic introspection.
The debut single "2:37am" from upcoming album across the inky aether is out now!
