To promote inclusivity and accessibility in research, I have participated in a number of science outreach initiatives. Seeing the next generation of scientists get excited about careers in STEM has been highly rewarding and caused outreach to become central part of how I approach science education.
Science Outreach Experiences.
FEMMES+ Capstone Event Volunteer- This event aims to excited 4th and 5th grade girls about science learning and possible careers in STEM. I helped students extracted DNA form strawberries and learned about DNA structure.

North Carolina DNA Day Science Ambassador- This program connects high school students and scientists in North Carolina to excite students about STEM careers and enhance science learning. I visited Wilson Early College Academy and gave research presentations to both introductory and AP biology classes.

DOinGG member- DOinGG is the science outreach committee associated with the University Program in Genetics and Genomics.

Cell Biology Academy (CeBA)- CeBA seeks to introduce rising high school juniors and seniors to laboratory research by pairing them with a current Duke Ph.D. or postdoctoral scholar to complete a summer research project. I have applied to act as a CeBA mentor for the summer fo 2025.
