Introduction
For this student teaching experience, I worked with Sarah Delevoryas at Stargate Charter School teaching gifted elementary general music (ages 5-12). Since I have previously taught elementary general music in my career, I intentionally sought out a setting that would give me a new experience. Having taught music previously in private, charter, and public school education with experience in Title I schools, elementary, middle, and high schools, choir, orchestra, band, and private lessons, I was seeking to try something new. My experience at Stargate and the studying I did in preparation for such a placement did allow me to try new ideas, connect with gifted students, and observe different teaching styles in action.
