Captain Star is a 1997 animated television series created by Steven Appleby and is based on Appleby's comic Rockets Passing Overhead. It stars Richard E. Grant as the voice of Captain Jim Star. The show was produced by Cosgrove Hall Films and HTV.

115 space years prior to the events of the program, Captain Star's former captain, Ned Nova, was ordered into retirement. Ignoring orders, Nova fled in his ship, the Merry Cheeser. Captain Star was ordered to arrest his former captain and chased the Merry Cheeser to a black hole. Refusing to retire, Nova piloted his ship into the black hole. He was discovered in the present day in suspended animation in the stomach of a space slug on The Nameless Planet. Star decided to let him leave in his rocket ship and declared that he could never have been Ned Nova because he was only half Ned Nova's age (thanks to his preservation inside the space slug). While an act of loyalty to his former captain and role model, his willingness to preserve an idealized image of Nova by refusing to arrest him and turn him over to Mission Control in disgrace ironically mirrors Mission Control's decision to preserve an idealized image of Star himself by exiling him on The Nameless Planet.

New to the All-Star voting process in 2023, fans had the opportunity to nominate one of their 11 player selections as the captain of the MLS All-Star team. Of the players selected for the 2023 MLS All-Star team, the four players who received the most captain nominations from the fan vote are placed on a ballot and eligible to be selected by fans as the MLS All-Star captain.

Star Captains are characters in MechQuest who are able to access all the features of the game. They generally have an advantage over free players, such as being able to unlock all of Soluna City and many other features. A Star captain is a one time payment to get premium account. There are two versions of the payment, one will only upgrade one of your characters, while the other will upgrade you entire account.

The starters, voted in by fans, players and a media panel, were revealed Thursday. James has the first pick in the draft as the leading vote getter overall, while Curry has first choice of jersey color, due to the Western Conference having home team status for the game.

Adding extra drama to the proceedings is the potential for some interesting pairings on the All-Star rosters, with friends, foes, rivals and stars from opposite sides of the conference divide joining forces in the All-Star Game for the first time.

The possibilities are endless, with current teammates Curry and Durant and Davis and Cousins possibly ending up on opposing sides as starters, while former teammates could potentially be reunited depending on how the draft plays out.

Notably absent from the starting group is reigning Kia MVP Russell Westbrook, despite the six-time Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star and two-time All-Star Game MVP averaging a near triple-double (24.8 points, 9.9 rebonds and 9.8 assists) for the second consecutive season.

James ties Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -- whom he is about to pass as the NBA's all-time scoring leader -- for most All-Star Game appearances with 19. James has now been a captain each of the six years the NBA has used the format of two captains drafting their individual teams. The Los Angeles Lakers star is averaging 29.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in his age-38 season.

Antetokounmpo will be a captain for the third time, having done so in 2019 and 2020, and will be an All-Star for the seventh consecutive season. The Milwaukee Bucks star is averaging 31 points, 12 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season for the Bucks, who are a half-game behind the Philadelphia 76ers for second place in the Eastern Conference.

Joining James among starters selected from the Western Conference are New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic.

The other East starters alongside Antetokounmpo are Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant and his teammate Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Durant, who is an All-Star for the 13th time, could miss the game for the third straight season after suffering an MCL sprain Jan. 8. The last time Durant played in the All-Star Game was in 2019, when he was named its MVP. But he missed the entire 2019-20 season while rehabbing from surgery on his torn Achilles tendon and then was unable to participate each of the past two seasons -- both times for which he was named captain -- due to injuries suffered in the weeks leading up to the game.

Tatum will play in his fourth All-Star Game -- his first as an elected starter, after being a fill-in last season for Durant -- after starring for the league-leading Celtics and averaging 31.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.

Mitchell will also be making his first start and will be doing so in the city that he called home the past five years. Mitchell, who is making his fourth straight All-Star Game appearance, has had a terrific debut season with the Cavaliers following a blockbuster trade to Northeast Ohio in September. He is averaging 28.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game for a Cleveland team hoping to make the playoffs without LeBron James on the roster for the first time in 30 years.

This year, for the first time, the teams will be decided by a draft that will take place live shortly before the start of the game next month, as opposed to a taped draft conducted in the weeks leading up to the contest.

Heading into Thursday night, one of the biggest questions was which Eastern Conference frontcourt player would get left out of the starting lineup? The four best players in the conference are all forwards or centers, but there are only three starting frontcourt spots.

The main story on Thursday is that LeBron James will be an All-Star captain for the sixth year in a row after receiving the most fan votes in the West. But with that honor, he has also clinched his 19th consecutive All-Star appearance, which gives him yet another spot in the record books.

Joining Giannis as starters from the Eastern Conference are Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell. The clear snub here is Joel Embiid, but there was always going to be an odd man out considering the four best players in the conference are all frontcourt players, and there are only three spots. For the third time in his career, and the first time since 2020, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named an All-Star captain. The Greek Freak received the most fan votes of any player in the Eastern Conference, and will now once again have the honor and responsibility of picking his team next month in Salt Lake City

Joining LeBron in the frontcourt as starters from the Western Conference are Nikola Jokic and Zion Williamson, while Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic have made it in the backcourt. Jokic has a chance to become the fourth player to ever win three MVPs in a row, while Doncic is also in the conversation for that award. Curry and Williamson might be as well, but they've dealt with injuries and have missed too much time -- though not too much to make it in as starters. e24fc04721
