ORDER IN THE LIBRARY GAME
Order in the Library is an online library game provided by the University of Texas. You can practice sorting, shelving, and reordering books using the Dewey Decimal System or alphabetical order. Library Science Vocabulary
Call Number: The call number is put on a label always found on the book's spine. It tells us where the book "lives" on the library shelves. The following are call numbers in our library:
- TK (A special collection of board books and picture books for Stanton TK students)
- E (Picture Books for Everybody)
- ER (Early Readers/Reading Primers)
- E Dewy Numbers (Easy Nonfiction: E 000-E 999)
- FIC (Big Blue Dot Fiction=Transitional Chapter books; Little Blue Dot Fiction=3rd, 4th, 5th Grade Chapter Books)
- Dewey Numbers (Nonfiction, 000-999)
Catalog: Used to locate books in the library.
Fiction: Fiction is a made-up story
Nonfiction: Nonfiction is a book containing true information. Nonfiction books are shelved in the Dewey Decimal System location.
