1.2.2. Proactive and Salutogenic Asceticism
I am using an Anglican model, a Roman Catholic model and then a model identified in the Sophianic worldview. I would suggest that the evangelical protestant places its emphasis upon grace, the Roman Catholic upon reactive asceticism and the Sophianic emphasis being upon two areas at the same time pro active Asceticism and the salutagenic asceticism. In this work I am identifying and then making proposals concerning the concept of disciples I am using an evangelical model a Roman Catholic model and then a model identified in the Sophia world for you I would suggest that the evangelical protestant place is it emphasis upon grace the Roman catholic upon reactive asceticism and the Sophia emphasis being upon two areas at the same time pro active And they salute asceticism the evangelical protestant view of grace based disciples works on the basis that every good gift that comes to the Christian is undeserved our true deserving condition being only the judgement of God in his anger we are totally deprived and therefore we can only receive any good work from God through and merited grace as a result of this reception of the good coming from God With Thanksgiving and love and commitment to God through this concept of gratitude for gods grace in spite of our unworthiness this can be thought of as being a spiritual enzyme placed into the recipient of grace which by default creates a response of love and commitment to God the Roman catholic view is antiparticle to this position as it places emphasis upon the baptised Roman catholic needing to subdue the works of the flesh by reacting to Expel exercises these exercises are designed to punish the body and by the body suffering a purging and cleansing of the attributes of sin in the body takes place in contrast to these two models the Sophia model proposes to forms the act as a tension in the Christian life the first form is proactive asceticism this is based on the model that the flesh needs to be defeated but not punished therefore fasting and denying self is not a purge Asian based on obligation but rather happily and Based chastisement and law based punishment the second Sofia feature is salute asceticism this model place is the emphasis upon activities at the spiritual level that our health producing and nourishing in short proactive asceticism starts the flesh and salute asceticism nourishes and builds up that which has been starved The evangelical protestant view of grace based discipleship works on the basis that every good gift that comes to the Christian is undeserved.
