Join us to Stand up for Science in Vermont and Nationwide! On Friday, March 7 we will be marching in Burlington to help spread the message of the vital role science plays in our lives and economy, with the intention of:
Secure and expand scientific funding
End censorship and political interference in science
Defend diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in science.
The Plan:
LOOP 1:
12pm: Meet at University Green (near Prospect St. and College St.)
Walk down College St. to Church St. (~20 mins)
Walk down Church St. to Pearl St. (~20 mins)
Walk up Pearl St. back to University Green (~20 mins)
LOOP 2:
1pm: Meet at University Green (near Prospect St. and College St.)
Walk down Main St. to City Hall (~20 mins)
Loop around City Hall Park (~20 mins)
Walk up College St. back to University Green (~20 mins)
This is a march, not a rally, and due to last-minute planning, there is no base location. We recognize that without a base location, moving around sidewalks may restrict some individuals from fully participating and we sincerely apologize for not being able to find a more inclusive option with this limited timeline. Even joining in for part of the march at one of the locations or supporting marchers as they pass will be highly impactful!
The goal of this peaceful march is to educate Vermonters, draw attention to the Trump administration's intentional crippling of our scientific infrastructure, and send a message that we will not accept this attack on scientific progress. We expect participants to abide by the laws of the City of Burlington and to be mindful of and not obstruct traffic along the route, as intersections will not be closed for this march.
