Note: This school is exclusively for Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and beginner PhD students currently enrolled in Indian Colleges, Universities, and Institutes. Other candidates are requested not to apply or submit emails.
The School will provide introductory-level lectures focused on the constructive approach to the Standard Model, emphasizing the underlying mathematical Lagrangian formulation. This program is designed to be highly beneficial for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and beginner PhD students intending to pursue research in theoretical particle physics, and will also be useful for those intending to pursue research in experimental particle physics seeking a deeper understanding of the Standard Model.
Students also have opportunity for a presentation on particle physics.
Topics will be covered in the school:
4-Vectors
Lagrangian and Fields
Gauge Invariance
QED Lagrangian
Gauge Structure of the Standard Model: Groups, Generators, Couplings, and Gauge Fields
Glashow-Weinberg-Salam Model
Electroweak Lagrangian
Higgs Mechanism
Fermion Masses
QCD Lagrangian
Standard Model Lagrangian
Student Presentations
All Lectures will be delivered on Digital White board.
Homework Problems will be given each day and later Solutions will be provided.
Lectures notes will be provided.
About the Speaker: Ibrahim Mirza earned PhD in experimental elementary particle physics from The University of Tennessee Knoxville, United States. He worked on a neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment-LEGEND-1000. Ibrahim conducted his research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His work involves vacuum technology, developing low-radioactivity materials, 3D-printing, detector simulation, gamma-ray spectroscopy and data analysis. Dr. Ibrahim Mirza is the founder and organizer of various summer and winter schools and conferences. He teaches courses on quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, and the Standard Model of particle physics.
