Children are required to be enrolled in the formation of a Catholic School or Religious Education Program for two consecutive years prior to receiving First Communion. Children typically begin preparation in 1st grade and receive their First Communion in the spring of 2nd grade. 

As the primary catechists of their children, parents are encouraged to play an active role in their child's formation by completing at home activities with their child, which deepens their understanding of the Eucharist and the Mass.
