Students are introduced to the basics of all things theatre including: character development, building scenes, improvisation, technical design, and more.
Students continue exploring the art of theatrical performance. They are introduced to acting theorists, taking and giving feedback, new forms of theatre such as TYA, Musical Theatre, and explore playwriting and directing.
*Students must complete Foundations of Design And Performance before taking this course or receive instructor approval.
Students from the ASD program work with students in the theatre department to create a full production from start to finish!

Students dive deeper into exploring technical theatre. They will learn how to use a variety of power tools, use those skills to build basic theatrical set pieces, learn common scenic painting techniques, learn about sound and lighting, and tie it together by designing a scene themselves.

Students begin to refine skills in all areas of technical theatre. They will explore theatrical design in all areas, and practice designing with safety in mind.

Technical Theatre students and Performance students come back together to workshop pieces and designs for their portfolio. They develop performances and presentations to take to the State Thespian Conference and possibly the National Conference. In the Spring, students work collaboratively to devise an original piece to present for the community.
*Students must complete Foundations of Intermediate Theatre or Intermediate Tech Theatre and Advanced Tech Theatre before taking this course or receive instructor approval.
Technical Theatre students and Performance students come back together to workshop pieces and designs for their portfolio. They develop performances and presentations to take to the State Thespian Conference and possibly the National Conference. In the Spring, students work collaboratively to devise an original piece to present for the community. What sets this apart from Production Management is seniors work with an extra focus in career readiness and college prep!
