#601DH Student Work

DSU archivist Ryan Burdge and DSU Associate Professor Stacey Berry are pictured with some of the archives from a 1929 film shot by a student.

Two non-film majors from Stacey Berry’s ENG 351 course, Digital Collection & Curation, also got involved in the SDPB project. This “gave the chance to have the students help with something with real-work implications,” said DSU Archivist Ryan Burdge.

The film caught the attention of a South Dakota Public Broadcasting producer, and was featured as part of a special “Images of the Past” segment, looking at film history throughout the state of South Dakota. That program aired on January 30, 2017, but is still available for viewing on the SDPB website, at http://www.sdpb.org/blogs/images-of-the-past/.

Augmented Reality: Escape the Room Experience

Dr. Berry’s Evolving Stage class, an upper-division course in the English for New Media program at DSU, presented an augmented reality Escape the Room Game, a team-based, puzzle solving experience that challenged participants to break out of a locked room within 15 minutes.
