Outline of the Project
(STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR ALUGBATI)
Step 1: Collect the Alugbati and pick the ones that are ripe and dark purple.
Step 2: Remove the Alugbati fruit that came from the Alugbati plant.
Step 3: Start crushing the Alugbati with the mortar and pestle to extract the its juice.
Step 4: Filter the juice through a fine cloth or strainer to remove any solid particles.
(STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR INK MAKING)
STEP 1: Put the Alugbati juice into a bowl.
STEP 2: Add rubbing alcohol and vinegar to the extracted Alugbati juice.
STEP 3: Mix in a small amount of iodine/betadine to help keep away bacteria
STEP 4: Add salt and cornstarch to make the ink smudge free
STEP 5: Add the lavender essential oil and stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
STEP 6: Transfer the finished ink into a clean container for storage.
(STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR FOUNTAIN PEN)
STEP 1: We bought a fountain pen without ink
STEP 2: Pour the Alugbati ink into the fountain pen
STEP 3: Close the pen securely and we will make sure that the ink flows smoothly
(STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR MARKER)
STEP 1: We bought a marker without ink
STEP 2: Pour the Alugbati ink into the marker
STEP 3: Close the marker securely and we will make sure that the ink flows smoothly
(STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE FOR HIGHLIGHTER)
STEP 1: We bought a highlighter without ink
STEP 2: Pour the Alugbati ink into the highlighter
STEP 3: Close the highlighter securely and we will make sure that the ink flows smoothly

Alugbati
A tropical plant that grows best in warm temperatures and well-drained soil. It can be use as a natural ink, we will extract the natural pigments to make sustainable ink and alternative to chemical ink.
Betadine
An antiseptic to reduce the risk of infections. It can also help to preserve the ink, enchance the color and improve its stability over time.
Isopropyl Alcohol
Serves as a preservative to prevent the ink from spoiling or growing mold over time.
It also helps dissolve and stabilize the pigments, improving the ink's consistency and longevity.
salt
Works as a fixative to help bind the pigment to surfaces when the ink is applied. It also aids in preservation and improves the ink's overall stability.
Vinegar
An aqueous substance of acetic acid and trace compounds that is guilty in flavoring, it is commonly used for cooking. We used vinegar to preserve the usage of our ink and for it to bind into a paper faster.
Mortar and Pestle
A set of two tools used to prepare ingredients by crushing and grinding them until it turned powder. We used it to crushed our alugbati and get most of the liquid matter out of it.
Stirring Rod
A stirring rod is a long glass rod used to mix or stir substances in a container. In making alugbati ink, it helps evenly distribute the ingredients into the liquid ink mixture without contamination.
Beaker
A beaker is a glass container used for mixing or holding liquids. In making alugbati ink, it helps you safely mix the juice and powder together.
Cloth Strainer
A cloth strainer is a piece of cloth used to filter solid particles from liquids. In making alugbati ink, it helps separate the juice from the plant’s pulp to get a smoother liquid.
Fountain Pen
A fountain pen is a pen that uses liquid ink stored in a reservoir. In making alugbati ink, it is used to test and apply the ink on paper.
Ink Container
A small glass ink container is a compact, airtight bottle designed to store ink, preventing evaporation and contamination. It is typically made of durable glass with a secure lid to maintain ink quality and prevent spills.
Glass Jar
A type of container used to store mostly liquids to preserve so it can be used later. We used the glass jar to put our ink and to preserve until the next use.
Mixing Bowl
A mixing bowl is a round container used for combining ingredients. In making alugbati ink, it is used to mix the alugbati juice and powder thoroughly before transferring to other containers.
Cornstarch
Cornstarch is a fine white powder commonly used as a thickening agent. In making alugbati ink, it helps the ink dry faster by thickening the mixture and allowing it to set more quickly on paper.
Charcoal Powder
Charcoal powder is a black material made by burning wood without oxygen and by crushing it. In making alugbati ink, it helps make the ink darker and turn into black.
