OVERVIEW
The Science and Technology Agency of Arlandica (STAA) (Filipino: Ahensya ng Agham at Teknolohiya ng Arlandika), formerly known as the Arlandican Space and Meteorological Agency (ASMA), is the national government agency responsible for coordinating all science and technology-related programs and policies within the Kingdom of Arlandica.
The agency plays a vital role in advancing national development through research, innovation, and the application of scientific knowledge for the benefit of society.

The mission of the Science and Technology Agency of Arlandica (STAA) is to advance national development and societal well-being through the systematic promotion of science, technology, and innovation. This mission is accomplished by:
Developing Science-Based Policies – Formulating policies and strategies that integrate scientific knowledge and technological innovation into national planning.
Promoting Research and Innovation – Supporting scientific research and encouraging the creation of innovative solutions that address local and global challenges.
Enhancing Education and Capacity Building – Empowering citizens, particularly students and professionals, with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly technological world.
Ensuring Responsible Technology Use – Regulating and guiding the ethical, safe, and efficient use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, data systems, and digital infrastructures.

MANDATE & FUNCTIONS
The Science and Technology Agency of Arlandica (STAA) serves as the government’s lead institution for research, technology, and innovation development.
Its primary functions include:
Coordinating national projects in science, research, and technology;
Formulating and implementing policies related to innovation and scientific advancement;
Supporting education and research institutions in scientific development;
Promoting the responsible and ethical use of modern technology; and
Strengthening national preparedness through weather, seismic, and environmental monitoring programs.
The STAA works in alignment with the Ministry of Education, under the authority of the monarch and the Parliament of Arlandica.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The STAA is led by an Administrator, appointed by the monarch, and operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
It is composed of several divisions and offices that oversee different areas of scientific and technological focus:

HISTORY
The Science and Technology Agency of Arlandica has evolved from a small meteorological office to a cornerstone of Arlandica’s scientific progress.
November 12, 2022 – The agency was established as the Arlandican Space and Meteorological Agency (ASMA) in Daya, Paddaya, through a royal decree signed by His Majesty the King. Governor-Representative Joshua Borja of Paddaya was appointed as the first Administrator.
October 31, 2023 – The agency officially became the Science and Technology Agency of Arlandica (STAA), expanding its focus beyond space and meteorological services.
February 10, 2025 – The STAA was transferred from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Education, strengthening its link to research and learning.
2025 and Beyond – The agency continues to develop national programs, including AI regulation, space exploration, and the establishment of Arlandica’s first Science Park and Satellite Observation Program.
