DTASC stands for the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California, a non-profit organization that has been providing educational theater opportunities for middle and high school students since 1920. DTASC hosts annual festivals where students in grades 6–12 can showcase and receive feedback on their acting and technical theater skills from professional judges. The organization also offers workshops for teachers and students and provides scholarships and grants to support arts education.
St. Mel's SPARTAN ARTS is an after school elective, our DTASC TEAM, for 7th-8th graders who are interested in working on different types of theatrical material - monologues, small scenes, comedy/tragedy, etc. You will work closely with a drama coach on selecting material, developing your own characters and motivation, and honing nuanced skills for the stage.
Congratulations to our 2025 DTASC team!
