Lay led liturgies are becoming more frequent in our church. In the Holy Communion Liturgy, (when a priest is not available to celebrate Mass), the Lay Leader distributes the Body of Christ to the faithful. The liturgy starts with a welcome, is followed by a penitential rite and then by the readings from the Mass of the day. The leader then provides a short reflection on those readings. The Lord’s prayer follows and Holy Communion is distributed to those present. Finally, a period of reflection and a prayer precedes the dismissal.
We decided to publish online, from time to time, reflections that leaders submit. You can use the Links below to connect to a particular day’s reflection. Remember they are personal reflections only; they are not homilies or sermons! The leaders are ordinary members of the community attempting to fulfill needs in an evolving era from their own understanding and experiences.
