A Sacrament of Healing
We receive the forgiveness for our
Sins and repairing of our relationship with God.
Jesus instituted this sacrament when He returned to the Apostles and said “Peace be with you.”
Holy Eucharist, established by Christ at the Last Supper, is the presence of Christ. Only faithful Catholics may receive the Holy Eucharist. Luke 22:14-24
When the hour came, he took his place at the table with the apostles. He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for, I tell you, I shall not eat it [again] until there is fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; for I tell you that from this time on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.
Confirmation is receiving the Holy Spirit, just as the Apostles received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Confirmation is generally received by 7th graders. The children prepare for the sacrament in religious education classes (catholic school or PREP program).
Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
