About the Artist
Between June and July 2021, Jorge Luis Piña Rosales, an internationally renowned Byzantine Mosaicist, is installing three original mosaics in the sanctuary of St. Ann Catholic Church in Clayton. Mr. Pina has mosaic installations in Mexico, Japan and the United States; many art collectors have Mr. Pina’s original artwork in their homes. Mr. Pina was born in the City of Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico in 1972; he is the son of the master painter Manuel Pina Vigueras (1930-1995) and Rufina Rosales Gonzales, who, herself has spent her life working on Byzantine Mosaics.
Installation of Mr. Pina’s world class mosaics will begin in June – extending into July 2021. Mr. Pina has been working on these original pieces during the past year. The images include The Immaculate Conception, The Holy Family and the center mosaic - a depiction of Jesus as the center of our lives, being presented in the Temple by Mary and St. Ann.
While here, Mr. Pina will share his talents, “without a doubt”; “as an artist, it’s my duty to teach.” His talents will be shared through three workshops and two seminars. Scheduled viewing of Mr. Pina’s installation will be allowed; NO PHOTOGRAPHY, NO phones, NO cameras will be allowed of the mosaics during installation inside St. Ann Catholic Church until the final Mosaics are revealed. The Mosaics will be unveiled on or around the Feast Day of Saints Ann and Joachim, grandparents of Jesus, July 26.
Mr. Pina’s life is an art. He carries his suitcase filled with tools and a heart filled with love and friendship for all those who are fortunate to meet him. Mr. Pina also serves as Historian in his hometown; he loves to share both his history and his art.
Entre junio y julio de 2021, Jorge Luis Piña Rosales, un artista de mosaico bizantino de nombre internacionalmente reconocido, estará instalando tres mosaicos originales en el santuario de la Parroquia Santa Ana en Clayton. El artista Piña ha instalado obras de mosaico en México, Japón y Estados Unidos; muchos coleccionistas de arte tienen obras de arte originales del señor Piña en sus hogares. El señor Piña nació en la Ciudad de Cuernavaca, Morelos, México en 1972; es hijo del maestro pintor Manuel Pina Vigueras (1930-1995) y Rufina Rosales Gonzales, quien, ella misma, se ha pasado la vida trabajando en mosaicos bizantinos.
La instalación del mosaico que el señor Pina realizará comenzará en junio y se extenderá hasta julio de 2021. El Sr. Pina ha estado trabajando en estas piezas originales desde el año pasado. Las imágenes incluyen La Inmaculada Concepción, La Sagrada Familia y en el mosaico central, una representación de Jesús como el centro de nuestras vidas, presentado en el Templo por María y Santa Ana.
Durante su estancia con nosotros, el Sr. Pina compartirá sus talentos, "sin duda"; "Como artista, es mi deber enseñar". Sus talentos se compartirán a través de tres talleres y dos seminarios. Se podrá ver el proceso de instalación mientras el Sr. Pina trabaja; NO se permitirá FOTOGRAFÍA, NINGUN VIDEO de los mosaicos durante la instalación dentro del templo (4057 US 70 Hwy Business W, Clayton, NC 27520) hasta que se revelen los Mosaicos finales. Los mosaicos se darán a conocer en o alrededor de la fiesta de los santos Ana y Joaquín, abuelos de Jesús, el 26 de julio.
La vida del Sr. Pina es un arte. Lleva su maleta llena de herramientas y un corazón lleno de amor y amistad para todos los que tienen la suerte de conocerlo. El Sr. Pina también se desempeña como historiador en su ciudad natal; ama compartir su historia y el talento de arte.
