PhD student Elica Anne Heredia presented “Giant Hall effect in two-dimensional granular arrays” [1] at the 2026 APS Global Physics Summit in Denver, USA, and received the Distinguished Student Program Award. She also received the Micron Scholarship for Women in STEM.

[1]  Giant Hall effect in two-dimensional CoSi2 granular arrays, E. A. Heredia et al., Physical Review B 110, 024201 (2024).

The study discovered a giant Hall effect near the metal–insulator transition in quasi-two-dimensional granular CoSi2 films, with the Hall coefficient enhanced by nearly two orders of magnitude. This work advances the understanding of quantum transport in granular materials and highlights the potential of granular CoSi2 films for sensitive electronic and sensing applications.

Congratulations to Elica and the co-authors on their excellent work!
