Graduate Program Graduation/Completer Details
For 2022, the MSIT programs incoming class of 2020 was comprised of 71% males and only 29% females. Compared to previous years, this is on trend for the university with the average gender distribution resting at 74% male and 26% female.
SSU's graduating MBA class (incoming class of 2020), boasted an almost equal gender distribution, with 59% of the class being male and 41% being female. Compared to previous years, this is common for the MBA program, as the programs average gender distribution rests at 47% male and 53% female.
This graph is representative of the distribution of graduates between the three campuses, as well as SSU's online option. Please note that "online" is only representative of one student- classified under the MBAO program.
Due to a higher level of enrollment at the universities Irvine campus, the majority of graduates (50%) are coming out of that location. The institutions low enrollment rates in Las Vegas will continue to reflect low proportions of graduates.
For the graduating class of 2022 (incoming class of 2020), 68 out of 108 students graduated or completed their program. In short, 63% of students who started a graduate level program in 2020, were successful in completing their degree requirements.
Additionally, 61% of MBA/MBAO students graduated/completed, while 66% of MSIT students graduated/completed. SSU's graduation rates are healthy and are on trend compared to previous years.
The average age of SSU's MSIT and MBA graduates in 2022, is 30 years of age. This average is on par with previous years however, a slight uptick (2%) starting in 2021 was discovered. It is expected that the average age of an SSU graduate student will soon sit at 34 years of age by 2024.
Undergraduate Program Graduation/Completer Details
SSU's Undergraduate class of 2018 (Bachelors of Business Administration), had a 50/50 gender distribution. Please note that the total class size is 19, with only 8 students completing the program.
87% of graduating BBA students came from the institutions Irvine campus. This is excepted as enrollment for SSU's bachelors program is higher in Irvine. However, this gap between enrollment is growing and the reasoning is currently under review. Current studies suggest a greater student engagement related to campus-community buy-in.
A total number of 8 students from the incoming BBA class of 2018 completed or graduated out of a class of 19. The overall graduation rate for the institution's undergraduate program for 2022 stands at 42%. On average this rate is standard in relation to comparative universities, but is considered an achievement for SSU. Low enrollment in the BBA program, has often affected the institutions graduation rates in the undergraduate program (low of 30%).
The average age of an SSU BBA graduate is 30 years of age (grad year 2022). According to studies, there is not a measurable difference in the ages of of graduate and undergraduate students. Although the average age of SSU's graduate students is slowly going up, recent trends suggest the same for the institutions undergraduate program.
Certificate Program Graduation/Completer Details
SSU's Certificate in Marketing program graduates were primarily female in 2022; 66%. The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration program was comprised of 33% females and 67% males. The Graduate Certificate in IT had a 50/50 gender distribution in 2022. Note, that this graph is only representative of 82% of students who successfully completed their certificate program.
Unlike other SSU programs, the majority of certificate graduates in 2022 came from the institutions San Diego campus. This is an interesting find and has proven to be consistent over the last 2 years. The reasoning is unknown.
A total of 40 students enrolled in a certificate program graduated or completed their program in 2022. SSU's certificate graduation rate stands at 82% for 2022, which is on trend with previous years. The most popular certificate being the institution's Certificate in Marketing, which currently holds the majority of graduates/completers for those students enrolled in a one year program.
The average age of students enrolled in a certificate program in 2021 is 30 years of age. As seen in other programs, 30 is the average age of an SSU student regardless of program. Additional studies suggest that the certificates appear to be programs that are highly attractive to returning SSU students.
2022 Enrollment at a Glance
SSU enrolled a total of 434 students for the year of 2022. This number includes all degree statuses (completed, incomplete, withdrawal, inactive, active, graduated, and enrolled).
The majority of enrolled students in 2022 are classified as MBA/MBAO students. This program has consistently been the leading program at SSU, with the MSIT program contentiously growing at at steady rate of 5% each year. Programs such as the institutions only bachelor program, continues to loose enrollment as well as overall student satisfaction.

50/50 Gender Distribution (enrolled students)
Retention
59 students who were enrolled in 2022 withdrew. The vast majority of these students came from the Fall 2021 quarter and from Winter of 2022. Additionally, the majority of enrolled students in 2022 withdrew from the MBA and MSIT programs. Recent studies show that the institutions certificates have the highest retention rates out of all the programs offered. Fall 2023 is projected to stabilize in terms of retention, with a slight decrease for Spring 2023 according to the structure and predictive analystics of this graph.
