The CTE Internship Course For Students allows them to earn credit for their work and internship experiences towards graduation.
The Guidelines Are:
Must be a High School Junior or Senior, at least 16 years of age
May enroll in CTE internship for one or both semesters of their junior and/or senior year
2 credits per high school career is strongly encouraged
Internships can be paid or unpaid experiences.
Internships do not have to tie directly to the course/cluster/pathway that a student studied.
Keep an accurate record of hours earned towards credit
Standard or honors option available
Complete the required assignments outlined in the course syllabus

Caterpillar has merged with high schools in North Carolina to offer opportunities for students to get real world experience. We will have an opportunity for eligible students to apply.
Program starts October 10.
Location: Smithfield Public Utilities Building on Hospital Road
Class size will be 12 or less to allow for social distancing.
Applicants will be selected through a random lottery process once all applications are received. To facilitate this, note the following:
Applications are due to the CDC’s by October 2.
Selected students will be notified by email of their acceptance by the afternoon of Tuesday, October 6
Students will be asked to reply to the email by the afternoon of Wednesday, October 7 confirming their acceptance.
Students will be required to abide by specific safety protocols, as outlined in the application. These include, but are not limited to, wearing masks, socially distancing, frequent hand washing/sanitizing, and self-monitoring for specific symptoms.
To protect the students, instructors, sponsors and related parties, students and parents sign an agreement absolving Johnston County Public Schools, the program sponsors, host facility, instructors, and related parties of any liability related to COVID-19.
Summer internship opportunities will be limited to 5-6 students. All interested students will have the opportunity to interview for the internship openings as long as they have not exceeded the maximum number of absences.
