HEALING CIRCLE MEETINGS: THE 2ND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH AT THE PARISH HALL @ 5:00 P.M. (RIGHT AFTER MASS).
Mission
FHL provides hope to parishioners struggling with life's challenges.
What FHL is and is Not
FHL is a ministry of compassionate accompaniment. Ministers may offer a nonjudgemental ear or referral to support services, but FHL should never be understood as providing professional psychological help. No minister–even those who may be mental health professionals in their professional lives–do not function as certified professionals in the context of FHL.
Confidentiality Statement
Ministers and participants in FHL activities are expected to keep things they hear strictly confidential. If, however, a minister and/or participant discloses any information that suggests that they may be a harm to themselves or to others, FHL ministers will abide by strict mandated reporter protocols and contact the appropriate authorities immediately.
Support Practices
FHL seeks to serve its communities by
Holding ministry sharing and prayer meetings at regular times where people can experience compassionate, prayerful community support
Being available for confidential conversations in order to obtain, when appropriate, connections to professional services
Visiting community members who may be home- or hospital-bound for prayer and companionship
Providing occasional educational programming to deepen our shared understanding of mental health challenges and pathways to healing
FHL was inspired by the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers, an organization that helps parishes like Saints Philip and James create their own ministries. For more on the ACMHM, please read their story here.
