Coach Son Si-heon appointed as new SSG Landers 2nd team manager

Son Si-heon (43), former NC Dinos coach, was appointed as the new second-team manager of SSG Landers.

According to MK Sports' coverage, it has been confirmed that former NC Dinos defensive coach Son Si-heon will be inaugurated as the new coach of SSG Landers' 2nd team Futures.

The new SSG Landers 2nd team coach Son Si-heon was born in 1980 and is a young leader who is 43 years old this year. He is a member of the NC Dinos and until recently was receiving leadership training with the Philadelphia Phillies minor league team in the U.S. Major League.

The appointment is considered all the more surprising because he had no special relationship with the SSG club. SSG 2nd team coach Son Si-heon received an offer from the United States, and is known to have settled down and returned to Korea.

2nd team coach Son Si-heon graduated from Seonlin Middle School, Seonlin Jeongbo High School, and Dongeui University, and wore his professional uniform for the first time as a Doosan Bears training player in 2003. Afterwards, he became a leading infielder in the league at Doosan and also served as captain.

While playing for the NC Dinos since 2014, he served as a leader of young players alongside current NC 1st team base running coach Lee Jong-wook. In particular, during his active years, he had a reputation as a hustle player whose strengths included excellent defense and operational ability.

After retiring in October 2019, 2nd team coach Son Si-heon began his leadership career as a defensive coach for the NC Dinos C team. Subsequently, as a member of NC, he has been receiving training from the minor league team of the Philadelphia Phillies of the U.S. Major League Baseball since December 2021 until recently.
