Department of Library and Information Science 

The Department of Library and Information Science was established on 15th June, 1971. The journey of the 'Shivaji Granthalaya' (Library) has been excellent for the last 50 years. 'Shivaji Granthalaya' is the heart of the institution because it is the spring of wisdom. The College Library is well maintained and modern. The Library of the Institute is a rich learning resource having 82,383 books (33965) titles. The library strives to enable the stakeholders to use library resources effectively.'Shivaji Library' of the institution has initiated many innovative practices to ensure the growth of the library during the assessment period. The library is supported by the latest e-resources and has a huge collection of books which include reference, texts, journals, periodicals, magazines etc.

Mission: 

To become a centre of educational partners who engage in knowledge generation and access, design transformational learning experiences, and provide environments for inquiry and exploration. 

Objective: 

1. To acquire, organise and update the library collection to support teaching- learning process. 

2. To encourage students to read beyond the requirements of the curriculum. 

3. To work with faculty in integrating information skills, knowledge of information sources, and the use of technology in accessing information needed to strengthen their instruction, research and extension. 

4. To provide instruction and assistance in the effective use of learning resources/services.
