4th Summer School on

Rock Physics

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG, INDONESIA

September 7th - 16th 2020

Introduction

Modeling is necessary in a wide range of fields such as physics, geophysics, petroleum engineering, geothermal, oceanography, hydrology, and can even be applied in other fields. Elementary geology, surface geophysics, and petrography will be given as introductory topics. Through the summer school program, students are expected to be able to obtain a comprehensive knowledge and brief experience in the topic of inversion modeling, digital rock physics, and multi-phase fluid transport. The inversion modeling includes forward and inverse modeling. Topics of rock physics include seismic rock physics and digital rock physics. The multi-phase fluid transport topics will include discrete approaches of modeling multi-phase fluid flow in porous medium. The topics are very useful for the students both for research and for industry-related works. Inversion, rock physics, and fluid transport are intensive topics studied by researchers and practitioners, given that the materials are still open to be developed as research topics or applications in industries.

This summer school is part of our annual summer school series in the following:

  • 2017: Summer school on computational modeling in rock physics
  • 2018: Summer school on computational modeling in geosciences
  • 2019: Summer school on computational modeling in geosciences.

Should you have any interest in widening your knowledge for research or industrial purposes, this is the place.
