SRM Exam App Privacy Policy

The SRM Exam App is an institutional academic application developed for the internal use of students and faculty of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST). The application enables secure online examinations and academic evaluation.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when using the application.
To provide secure examination services, the application may collect the following information:
• Student/Faculty name
• Institutional email address
• Registration number / user ID
• Class and course details
• Selected answers and exam submissions
• Exam start and end timestamps
• Auto-submission events
• Exam score and evaluation data
• Device session activity during an active exam
• Application foreground/background events (to detect leaving the exam screen)
• Multiple login session detection
During an active examination session, the app may access the device camera for identity verification and exam integrity monitoring.
The app:
• Does NOT continuously record video
• Does NOT record audio
• Does NOT access the camera outside an exam session
Camera access is automatically disabled after the exam ends.
Collected data is used strictly for academic purposes:
• Conducting online examinations
• Preventing malpractice or cheating
• Verifying student presence during exams
• Evaluating answers and generating results
• Allowing faculty to review submissions
The app is not used for surveillance outside exam sessions.
All data is securely stored using protected institutional cloud database services.
Access is restricted to authorized academic personnel (faculty and administrators only).
Security measures include:
• Authenticated login access
• Secure database storage
• Controlled access permissions
We do not sell, trade, or share user data with advertisers or third-party companies.
User information is accessible only to:
• Authorized faculty
• Academic administrators
• Examination authorities of SRMIST
Exam data is retained only as long as required for:

After academic use, data may be archived or removed according to institutional policies.
The application may request the following permissions:
Used only during active exams for presence verification and exam integrity.
Faculty may upload question images for exam creation.
The app does not access personal photos without user action.
The SRM Exam App is intended only for registered students of SRMIST.
The app is not directed to children under the age of 13.
We take reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect user information against unauthorized access, misuse, or alteration.
However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.
