In Asia Datura metel has similar medicinal applications, and it is used additionally to treat hydrophobia, epilepsy, convulsion, syphilis, inflammation of the breasts, smallpox, mumps and leprosy. Datura metel is also widely used as a pesticide. Seeds mixed with sorghum flour are used as poison bait for rats.
