Welcome to Ms. Aguirre's page.
My name is Marisol Aguirre I have been teaching Kinder Dual-Language for two years. My background is in Social Work primarily with adoption services and foster care. My previous experience has helped me to better serve the students in my community. I currently work at Mission View Elementary School located in South Tucson. Mission View is a Dual-Language School for grades kindergarten to 5th grade.
I enjoy working with children because there is never a dull moment. It is rewarding to see a student's progress through the year and to watch them grow as learners. This is definitely a challenging age group as they are full of energy and at many times it is their first school experience. I look forward to many more years of challenges and rewarding experiences.

Personal Teaching Philosophy - Reflection Video
I have included some pictures of our day to day activities and artifacts that show my teaching style. This is not a comprehensive view, but definitely a glimpse inside the classroom.
Example of writing rubric for students. It is an excellent way for students to review their writing and learn to make edit and revise independently.
Sample of number cards and ten frame cards used for student fluency. Card are used in the classroom and also a set is sent home for students to practice with their family.
Writing wall. Students keep a journal of their writing from the very beginning of the year. Students are able to view their work displayed as well as reference it and view their progress.
Incorporating the school garden on a weekly basis is an important way to incorporate science concepts. Students get hands-on experience while learning useful skills and trying new fruits and vegetables they might not try on their own. It is also a good way to talk to students about healthy food choices.
Sample worksheet for letter identification.
Below you find a reference chart for students to use when coloring and creating their pictures. The visuals provide a good guide for students to critique and improve their work.
Guest speakers and volunteers are always welcome in the classroom. They are an excellent way to bring novelty to the classroom and it is a great engagement strategy for students.
Anchor charts and visuals are a great way to help students conduct research, create their own charts and produce writing.
