Hello,
I am an Associate Professor at the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) in Mumbai. I hold a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. in Population Studies from IIPS and have previously held positions at the University of Western Australia (UWA), the Australia India Institute (AII), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.
My research focuses on population dynamics, family and economic demography, gender inequality, and health economics. I have published extensively in leading international journals and have contributed to policy-oriented demographic and public health research in India and globally.
I have also collaborated with organizations such as UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, and the ICRW, and have been a visiting scholar at the Universities of Göttingen, Paris, and Strasbourg. My work integrates robust empirical analysis with development policy, aiming to advance the understanding of India’s demographic, socio-economic, and gender-related inequalities.
