Welcome here! I am Samuele Riccò, currently a FWF PhD student under the joint supervision of Elisa Davoli (TU Wien) and Carolin Kreisbeck (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt). I am employed in the research group "Multiscale Calculus of Variations" led by Elisa Davoli at the Institute of Analysis and Scientific Computing of TU Wien. I am also part of the Vienna School of Mathematics.
My research topics are mainly coming from physics and materials science problems, and I deal with them using techniques from Calculus of Variations and the theory of Partial Differential Equations. More in detail, some of my research topics are:
Homogenization of composite materials
Solid-solid phase transition problems
Image denoising
Orlicz and Musielak-Orlicz spaces
Regularity theory in Calculus of Variations
You can find me at the following upcoming events:
5th Austrian Calculus of Variations Day, University of Graz (16-17 Oct 2025)
Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Salzburg 2025, Paris-Lodron University Salzburg (5-7 Nov 2025)
Thematic program "Free Boundary Problems", Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics, Vienna (29 Sep-19 Dec 2025)
