The birth of a luminary on 20th of September 1920 made it an important date, not just for his parents and family members, but also for the golden dais of Indian classical dance. Guru Sri V.S. Ramamoorthy who is dearly called as 'Master' by his students has proved that a genius can be a simple person and no award is big enough for a man with genuine accomplishments. After receiving formal training form the legendary guru, Padmasri Sri K.N. Dandayudha Pani Pillai, he performed his arangetram on 15th August 1947 on the auspicious day of the Indian Independence. It was in the year 1967 that master established 'Sri Rama Nataka Niketan' (back then called as Sri Devi Nritya Niketan) in Perambur Chennai and later shifted to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Since then the school has trained several students helping them swim effortlessly in the waves of dance and delve deeper to ace the aft form.

Hailing from the land of the Tanjore Quartet, the eminent teacher-choreographer, most sought after Guru of the Twin cities and the Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Smt. Manjula Ramaswamy is a well known established name in the field of Bharatanatyam. The daughter and Shishya of the Legendary Guru Sri VS Ramamoorthy (first male disciple of Padmasri Sri KN Dandayudhapani pillai),

she is the director of the premier institute Sri Rama Nataka Niketan, Hyderabad.

Initiated into the field of dance at a very young age in the Vazhavoor bani, she showed an unbelievable grip over talam and footwork skills with an extraordinary talent in imparting training to her father's students.

A graduate in B.Com from St. Francis' college, she was employed at the "Hyderabad Allywn Metal works Limited" in her early years eventually dedicating herself to the sole goal of educating and propagating the artform of Bharatanatyam in land of Kuchipudi.

She secured the Gold Medal in MPA (Bharatanatyam) from the Hyderabad Central University (HCU)and took over the reigns of the institute, Sri Rama Nataka Niketan.

Since then she has dedicated her entire life training more than three thousand students over the years and has been widely known for her extraordinary command on the nattuvangam and versatility in her choreographies and unique dance drama productions.

As the director of Sri Rama Nataka Niketan, she took the institute to its zenith, by choreographing the signature piece of the institute - Deepa Tarangini, a one of a kind presentation of the karanas and yoga postures by dancers on inverted mud pots balancing lit candles and pots on the heads.

Guru Manjula Ramaswamy has been the recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2022 given by the Honorable President of India.

With Master's and her efforts the school has been an empanelled member under the ICCR, since last 20 years. The team has performed more than 10,000 shows in India and abroad in various festivals and international events and has produced several dance dramas which has been appreciated by rasikas all over.

Under the direction of Guru Smt. Manjula Ramaswamy, the students of the institute have also been a part of Vande Bharatam presentation during the 75th republic day parade. The school has also been chosen to present at the G20 summit held in Hyderabad earlier this year.

Teacher's Life's Aim is to not only train her students in the art of Bharatanatyam but also to empower them to be able to touch the soul of rasikas through this great art.

Sri Rama Nataka Niketan had participated in the TV reality show in the year 2014, which was called - India's Got Talent Season 5. They were highly praise by the judges - Ms. Malaika Arora, Ms. Kirron Kher and Mr. Karan Johar. The audience were awestruck by their enthralling performance and the judges were compelled to present them the golden buzzer. They skipped several rounds and reached the semi-finals directly. 

At the semi-final round they presented a beautiful dance number - Nava Durga, depicting the nine forms of Goddess Durga which she had taken to kill the evil demon Mahishasura. They won the hearts of several people with their performance being the first group to represent Indian Classical Dance from South India.
