Educational Philosophy

"In my band room you will see a great emphasis on works relevant to the time we live in by selecting diverse repertoire that bridges the past and present of music.  It is important as young musicians to not be afraid to take musical risks. We practice not to make perfection, but we practice to make progress. The band room is a risk-free environment, where students can realize their own value and the joys of working as a musical community. Overall, the band room will be a safe place, where we are constantly creating, and finding how we can work together and discover what makes the performing arts special. Music is a universal language, it breaks down barriers and reaches students no matter their ethnicity, identity, or ability."

"To play a wrong note is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable!" - Ludiwg van Beethoven
