Research: High-resolution regional natural disaster risk modeling
About: Yuhong got her B.S.in Atmospheric Science in 2015 from Nanjing University of Information& Science Technology. Then she worked as a meteorological engineer at Lianjiang Meteorological Bureau in southeast China, forecasting various high-impact weather events such as typhoons and extreme precipitation. Yuhong has a wide range of interests including painting, sewing, and watching films.
Postdoctoral Associate
Research: Coupled fire-behavior modeling at the wildland-urban interface
Abotut: Weichen earned a B.S. in Atmospheric Science in 2018 from the University of Yunnan and completed her Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences in 2024 at the University of Science and Technology of China. Her research focused on biomass combustion transport, its climatic effects, and wildfire spread modeling using WRF-FIRE and WRF-SFIRE. Currently, her research interests include the impact of extreme weather on fires and exploring the future development trends of global wildfires.
Outside of her research, Weichen is an avid badminton player and hiker. She is also learning to cook, though she’s still perfecting her skills in the kitchen.

Research: Atmospheric Rivers and their attendant risks
About: Tim received his B.S. in Meteorology in 2017 and B.S. in Applied Mathematics in 2018, both from the University of Northern Colorado. He completed his M.S. in Atmospheric Science in 2023 at the University of Wyoming working on modeling/parameterizing blowing snow into a high-resolution operational weather model. Currently, his research interests are in big data analysis with extreme winter weather events, such as atmospheric rivers and large snow storm events.
When not doing research, he enjoys running, working out, playing video games, and repurposing broken furniture.

Research: Western U.S. snow teleconnections
About: Kinsale earned her B.S. in Geography in May 2025 from the University of Wyoming. As an undergraduate student, she conducted research studying snow behavior in Wyoming and the surrounding regions using regional climate models. Outside research, she loves to read, spend time with family, and go outdoors.
