My relationship with a loving God who saved me from my sins and gave me life eternal guides my every day and everything that I do, including my teaching. I strive to show that love and to lead my students to grow in, participate in, and to share that love, through the teaching and memorization of Biblical truths and promoting prayer as a way of caring and encouraging each other.
The class follows a flipped format: students watch and work with the grammar and vocabulary concepts before live class at their own convenience, and then attend live class to practice the concepts learned. Attendance is not mandatory and live classes are recorded as well for students who might not be able to come to a live session. The link to recorded live sessions is posted in the weekly page of the class. Students can attend a different session. There are no penalties for late submissions.
Students watch a pre-recorded video explaining the theoretical content of the lesson, and then we practice most of our time together in live sessions. Links to flipped-class recordings are provided in weekly newsletters and in the class pages.
No, attendance is not mandatory. However, it is highly recommended and the main reason to pay big bucks for a foreign language class with a native speaker!
No, students may attend a different live session if they are not able to attend their “official” session –students could even switch permanently. Contact me for options.
No, but a quality computer mic or wired headset or earphones with a mic are definitely a must to be able to practice and to take the most advantage of live sessions. In a pinch, some good quality tablet or phone built-in mics work fine. Students are highly encouraged to try to participate by any possible means, and to attend without a working mic or to watch recordings as the last resort!!!
YES! I am a homeschooling mom myself, for crying out loud! Even though I cannot accommodate parents signing in on their own for live sessions because of connection, space, and clarity issues, parents with or without a background in Spanish are highly encouraged to help, participate, watch, learn, ask, suggest, critique, practice, enjoy, cry, laugh, etc. in this class.
I personally do not scoff at parents who might be even working side by side with their student, because I see the value of closely supervising my own children in some subjects where they might struggle more or where we just enjoy each other’s input and comradeship!
I send weekly newsletters to keep you informed, and you can decide to give more or less independence to your student depending on personal/family need and availability. You know your student better than I do, and I want you to fix the boundaries that work for your unique situation.
Contact me if you think you or your student is not receiving all the help needed or if there is anything about the class causing confusion or frustration. Spanish is beautiful, and I firmly believe all students should enjoy this class!
No, there are no penalties for late submissions with parental knowledge and consent. However, students are expected to submit assignments before the due date, and those assignments will be issued zeroes if they do not get completed, as a visual warning. Those zeroes will be deleted once assignments are completed. Therefore, I will let parents know if there are late submissions and they had not contacted me to let me know of an exceptional situation.
Contact me for guidance planning around regular events, like family vacations, or unexpected emergencies.
I do not have a fixed office hour, but students and parents are welcome to come early to live sessions or stay later with any questions or issues, or find a time to meet. Email is the preferred contact method.

No, I can tailor private and even group classes to your needs or your curriculum. Contact me for conversation –including conversation centered on personal testimony, evangelism, and mission–, tutoring, advanced Spanish, culture and literature, etc. I’ve even taught Spanish/baby sign language lessons to moms and babies!
