About us
The Luzon Agricultural Research and Extension Center (LAREC) is one of the two (2) research stations of SRA that undertakes research, development and extension (RDE). Its primary aim is to test and establish sugarcane farming technologies through continuous research and development. The station also maintains a sugarcane nursery for the propagation of new high yielding varieties for canepoint production and the dispersal to farmers as far as Cagayan, Isabela, Tarlac, Pampanga, Batangas, up to Camarines Sur. Furthermore, it extends technical, laboratory and other services to the stakeholders of the Philippine sugarcane industry. LAREC has been in existence serving the sugarcane industry for the last 56 years since it was established in 1965. Though the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 greatly devastated its main facilities and infra structures, but still the station survived and remained committed to our sugarcane stakeholders.
