An introduction to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. Focuses on building foundational communication skills through high-frequency vocabulary, basic sentence structures, and essential conversational patterns. Cultural awareness is integrated throughout, exploring geographic regions, traditions, daily life, and global Spanish-speaking communities.
Spanish II expands upon the foundational skills acquired in Spanish I, transitioning students toward greater spontaneous communication in both present and past contexts by handling simple practical situations. Cultural studies deepen as students explore the history, art, music, architecture, and current customs of various Spanish-speaking countries.
Latin American Studies offers a multidisciplinary exploration of the geography, histories, cultures, politics, and contemporary realities of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the diverse cultural identity of Latin America and its historical and contemporary connections to the United States.
