The Prerelease format allows players to compete using their built 40-card deck with four Prize cards set aside at the start of play, as opposed to a 60-card deck with six Prize cards. This format is perfect for introducing new players to the exciting world of the Pokémon TCG with quick, fun games, and it also gives seasoned players a window into all the new set has to offer. Due to the limited card pool and the variance of cards that can be acquired in a Build & Battle Box, Prerelease events are also a great opportunity to flex your creative deck-building muscles.
Each Build & Battle Box includes four Pokemon booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from current and prior sets, as well as one of four unique foil promo cards to boost your Prerelease deck. Every game playing with 40-card decks will only set out 4 prize cards at the start, for quicker more focused matches.
Depending on which promo card and explainer card you get, your deck will guide you into different, unique strategies. Combined with your new packs, you'll be able to begin playing the game with a fun functional 40-card deck of your own creation!
Any Build and Battle Kit used in the PreRelease tournament WILL BE OPENED before being handed to players. This is an anti-scalping meassure.
