Gym Leader Challenge was created by Andrew Mahone during the summer of 2021 and has been enjoyed by Pokémon players of all skill levels around the world! - GLC Website
In the Gym Leader Challenge (GLC) format, all cards from the current Expanded format are legal, and must follow these special rules...
Your deck can only contain one type (color) of Pokémon.
Only one of each card with the same name allowed in a deck, except for Basic Energy.
Cards with a Rule Box are not allowed.
ACE SPEC cards are not allowed.
Legal Cards: Expanded (Black & White – onwards) with a short ban list
Note: this format uses the Release Date of newer sets to determine when set are tournament legal.
⚠️ Expanded level card knowledge will take time to learn. Please note this while building and making decklists.
60 card decks are built & 6 Prize Card games are played with the most current Pokemon TCG rules.
Only at SW Randall, special rules are also given for the use of Proxy Cards and Printed card not Legal for tournament play!
Proxy Cards
Proxies need to be higher quality, while not being noticable in the deck. Color Proxies are prefered, but they can be grayscale
Newer set card proxies are discouraged. Proxying should be used for older cards that you intend to test and buy later
Players are expected to have refences for cards reday in case their Proxy is hard to read or other questions arise
A seprate list of cards that need proxied may be requested of the player at anytime.
Any Proxy may be rejected for any reason
Printed Cards Not Legal For Tournaments
Regular sized Cards that state something to the effect of "This card cannot be used at official tournaments.", must have an English, Expanded legal version of said card to be played at our events.
Example: VS Seeker from The Pokemon Classic Sets are allowed at SW Randall, since VS Seeker is already legal in Expanded
