Squint Discover is a Chrome browser extension that helps you highlight keywords, discover trending terms, and block content on web pages. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Squint Discover does and does not collect.
What Data Squint Discover Collects
Squint Discover does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data.
All processing performed by Squint Discover happens entirely within your browser on your device. No information about you, your browsing activity, your keywords, your settings, or any content you view is ever sent to any server, third party, or external service.
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Squint Discover stores the following information locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device:
Your saved keywords and their display colors
Your extension settings (highlight mode, theme preference, discover options)
Your UI preferences (panel position, active tab, open/closed state)
Your on/off state for the extension
This data is stored solely to restore your preferences between browsing sessions. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.
Permissions Used and Why
Squint Discover requests the following Chrome permissions:

None of these permissions are used to collect, transmit, or share your data.
Web Pages You Visit
Squint Discover reads the text content of web pages you visit in order to highlight your keywords and generate the Discover word cloud. This analysis happens entirely within your browser. The content of web pages you visit is never transmitted to us or any third party.
No Analytics or Tracking
Squint Discover does not use any analytics tools, tracking pixels, crash reporting services, or any other form of telemetry. We have no visibility into how you use the extension.
No Advertising
Squint Discover does not display advertisements and does not share any data with advertising networks or data brokers.
No User Accounts
Squint Discover does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the extension.
Children's Privacy
Squint Discover does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Because we collect no personal data from any user, the extension is safe for use by all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Your continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
