The thing is that im finding article after article on how to back up a CIF share, but not backup data TO a CIF share. I beleive I have to start by creating a storage unit that points to the location to which I want to send the backups, but thats where I'm getting stopped, and pretty sure Im missing steps. Ive named the new stiorage unit, selected disk as the storage unit type, BasicDisk as disk type(??), selected a media server I want it to use, entered the absolute path, but I cannot view the properties of the location. I just get that "Error reading volume information.STS API failed. Status 228", which leads me to believe I'm heading in entirely the wrong direction. Is anyone out there sending backups directly to a CIF share, and can shed some light on this for me? I'll provide whatever information needed about my current setup.

What I've done in the past is grant the AD object which is the computer which is the media server full access rights to the share. AFAIK there is no need for an AD user to have permissions on the CIFS share, it is a 'computer' which is granted access rights to the share.

Hi sdo. Here is what Im seeing when I try to view the properties of the share. I have the media server in there, and the UNC path to the cifs share. Does what Ive done here seem incorrect, or is it just needing further configuration?

NBU services on media server ( Client and 1 other that I cannot remember now) must be started as user with write permissions. Details in NBU Admin Guide I and a TN that I will search for when I have time. Or just start all services as this user. Ensure user has local admin rights.

This will be using slp, so from the article, I'll need AdvancedDisk. Once I change the service accounts running the client service and the nbrmms service on the media servers needed, wont I then need to create the storage server and disk volume using the nbdevconfig -creatests commands, follow by the nbdevconfig -createdv(per the link), before I can create the AdvancedDisk storage unit, or are these steps not fully unnecessary when sending to a CIFS? I just need to be sure I'm detailing the process for myself clearly, and I also have to add the process in our change procedures.

Your snapshot of the webserver publishing tool shows the local directory to save webpage as a directory on the PC folder system. I believe this html file should be saved on the rt target just like the other VIs.

Let us choose the Custom mode for the installation. Once you click on the custom mode, it asks for the SQL Server media download target location. This path should have sufficient free space to download media.

The database file will be located at /Plug-in Support/Databases/com.plexapp.plugins.library.db inside the main Plex Media Server data directory. The data directory location can vary by operating system and device; see the article listed below for details. The commands listed below will assume the default server data directory locations.

The Plex SQLite tool is located alongside the Plex Media Server executable. You can find it in the following locations, depending on the operating system your server runs on. When the commands below reference "Plex SQLite", fill in the path listed here:

The file server takes on the computer or server role to store and make available data BLOBs to clients, serving as a central location to store and share files for a network. They can be limited to a single local area network (LAN) or can be open to the internet.

File servers make storing, securing and sharing files in an organization simpler. File servers are a common target for hackers and ransomware, so particular attention must be given to securing them against attacks.

All organizations need to share information and data between people. Instead of emailing or using Universal Serial Bus drives to move data, for example, a file server can be used as a central place for many people to store files. This can facilitate collaboration between people in different locations and can be used to transfer large files that may be otherwise difficult to move.

Best practice is that several copies of important data be kept and that some of these copies should be at a different physical location and be offline or not connected to the network. This way, even if a natural disaster destroys a data center or if ransomware encrypts the file server, the files can be recovered. It is important to test file backups regularly.

File servers are a high-value target for attackers and so should be isolated from the internet. File permissions should be regularly audited. Regular updates can keep them from being exploited. Alerts or auditing should notify of strange activity to stop file exfiltration or encryption programs.

A Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) is an ISO image that contains firmware, drivers, and software packages for Linux and Windows. The components of each SPP are pre-tested together for stability. To upgrade the firmware on target servers to the latest Hewlett Packard Enterprise Service Pack baseline, use a Hewlett Packard Enterprise provided OS Build Plan to deploy an SPP as described in the following sections:

where username, password, Media_Server_IP, sharename, and path should all be substituted with information specific to your Media Server. The mount_point is the mount point where the file share is to be mounted on the target server.

ReaR supports NFS, CIFS (Samba), USB, rsync, and local destinations as backup targets. In this article, server storage is configured as an NFS server to be used as the backup target for the ReaR utility deployed on the production server.

If a device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, we may detect the Wi-Fi network's IP address to determine physical location. If a mobile device is connected to a mobile carrier's proxy server, we may use the carrier IP to determine the device's location.

When using OUTPUT=ISO, OUTPUT=RAMDISK or OUTPUT=RAWDISK you should provide the backup target location through the OUTPUT_URL variable. Possible OUTPUT_URL settings are:

The 300 Multiple Choices status code indicates that a resource has moved and can redirect to multiple locations. In this case the user must decide which resource to use. The server may indicate a preferred choice and that should be indicated in the header field where the user agent could redirect to the preferred choice automatically. In practical use, this status code is rarely used as there is no standardized way to choose from multiple responses. See RFC7231, Section 6.4.1 for more information.

A 301 Moved Permanently status code is utilized to indicate that a target resource has been moved to a permanent location. The 301 status code tells the browser/client to use this new location or URL going forward in the header. Along with the 301 status code, the new URL will be given in the response as well as update any URLs in the previous location(s), along with updating to the new URL. See RFC7231, Section 6.4.2 for more information.

A 308 Permanent Redirect status code is a cacheable status code (unless cache controls are implemented) that indicates that a target resource is now located at a permanent URL and subsequent requests should be directed to that URL as well. Additionally, the client should update any old bookmarks to the new location. The 308 status code is very similar to the 301 status code, however, if a 308 status code is sent, the client has to initiate and send the same request on the target location. A 301 status code does not have to do this. Most browsers/clients change the POST request to a GET request. See RFC7238, Section 3 for more information.

The 405 Method Not Allowed error status code indicates that a specific resource requested by the client is not supported by the server. The 405 Method Not Allowed is like the 403 Forbidden status code, however, the 403 status code indicates that the resource may be available, it is just that the client does not have the necessary authorization to carry out the request. Along with the 405 Method Not Allowed status, the server must indicate the appropriate and supported methods for the target resource. For more information on the 405 Method Not Allowed error code, see RFC7231, Section 6.5.5 ff782bc1db
